5,000 Trees To Be Planted At Bagh-e-Quaid-e-Azam

The barren land of the mausoleum of Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, is changing rapidly into lush green gardens where a thick green jungle of about 5,000 trees of 38 different types would be planted of which 3,000 have already been planted. The sources said that horticulture is the most important part of the Bagh-e-Quaid-e-Azam project as more than 60 gardeners of Karachi Development Authority were working to make it a unique garden in the country. The plan of the Bagh is inspired by Chahar Bagh concept, which is culmination of traditional Islamic architecture in the subcontinent. Chahar Bagh is temporal representation of the garden of paradise. It carries all the features of paradise, like water channels, cascades, pools, fountains, walkways, green lawns and fruit laden and aromatic trees. When viewed in totality it transpires that Muslim garden is a formal entity. The 38 different types of saplings which are being planted in the garden are Kachnar 311 trees, Gul Mohar red 450, Din Ka Raja 275, Amaltas 222, Pink Champa 115, White Champa 176, Chiku 336, Neem 950, all three types of Bougainvillaea (Red, Pink, Formosa) 625, Kagzi Lemon 140, Anar 105, Lignam 786, etc. Meanwhile, a five-member committee has been formed to chalk out the programme for holding inaugural ceremony of Bagh-e-Quaid-e-Azam on December 25. The committee is headed by Project Director Bagh-e-Quaid-e-Azam, Brig (Retd) Abdullah Zubair, while the other members are Commanding Officer, 102 Engineering Battalion, GSO-II Headquarters Engineers, 5 Corps, Resident Engineer, Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board, and Shakeel Ahmed Allah Wala of KDA.
